amfAR CEO Talks to BBC Worldwide about MSM and HIV/AIDS

August 4, 2008—amfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost spoke with BBC Worldwide from the XVII International AIDS Conference in Mexico City about the discrepancies between HIV prevalence rates among men who have sex with men (MSM) and the general population, and what needs to be done to address this problem.

"History has taught us that in our responses to the epidemic, we must have messages which are very specific and culturally tailored to the population at risk," Frost told the BBC.

Citing research published in a new amfAR report on MSM and HIV, he emphasized that as long as MSM continue to be marginalized and stigmatized, they will remain at much greater risk of HIV infection than the general population.
