Wade Guyton

Wade Guyton was born in 1972 in Hammond, Indiana, and grew up in Lake City, Tennessee. He attended University of Tennessee, Knoxville (B.A.), and Hunter College in New York, where he still works and lives.

The post-conceptual artist frequently delves into how art, design, technology, and daily life are interrelated across his drawings, sculptures, and installations, which combine appropriation and abstraction.

His solo museum exhibitions include the Museum Ludwig in Cologne, the Serpentine Gallery in London, Le Consortium in Dijon, Kunsthalle Zürich, and the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, among many others. His work has been collected by museums around the world, including the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; the Centre Pompidou; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh, the Kunstmuseum Basel; the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich; Museum Ludwig, Cologne; Kunsthaus Zürich; Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Princeton University Art Museum; Dallas Museum of Art; FRAC, Ile de France; and the Musee d’Art Moderne et Contemporain in Geneva.

He sometimes collaborates with artists Kelley Walker and Stephen Prina. Along with Seth Price, he runs Leopard Press, which publishes their work and that of their friends.
