This exquisite mask, handcrafted by Malakai, in partnership with the World Gold Council for amfAR Venezia 2024, features 40 golden rays of light for the approximately 40 million people currently living with HIV. The rays are adorned with 79 gems and beads, the atomic number for gold, signifying the precious metal’s fascinating role in the fight against disease. The entire piece is plated in responsibly sourced gold.

Malakai’s wearable art, millinery, and jewellery have captivated celebrities such as Rihanna, Madonna and FKA twigs. Malakai is the creator of the iconic headdress for Beyoncé, showcased during her unforgettable 2017 Grammy performance of “Love Drought.”
