Born in 1949 in Châtillon-sur-Seine, France, Bertrand Lavier lives and works in Paris and Aignay-le-Duc, near Dijon.

His work has been part of numerous solo and group exhibitions around the world—in his home country at the Centre Pompidou, Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, the Grand Palais, Louvre Museum, Musée d’Orsay, Musée du Quai Branly–Jacques Chirac, Palais de Tokyo, Monnaie de Paris, and Hôtel Le Bristol (Paris); Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris and the Espace Louis Vuitton in Tokyo; the Château de Versailles; Fondation Vincent van Gogh (Arles); Le Consortium (Dijon); and Villa Sauber (Monaco).

Lavier’s work has also been part of exhibitions at the Bourse de Commerce–Pinault Collection and the Punta della Dogana–Pinault Collection (Venice); Tate Gallery and Serpentine Gallery (London); Centre for Fine Arts (Brussels); Middelheim Museum (Antwerp); Martin-Gropius-Bau (Berlin); Haus der Kunst (Munich); Kunsthalle Fridericianum (Kassel); Frankfurter Kunstverein (Frankfurt); MAMCO (Geneva); Kunsthalle Bern; MACRO and Villa Medici (Rome); mumok (Vienna); State Hermitage Museum (St. Petersburg); Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, MoMA PS1, and the Swiss lnstitute (New York); Museum of Contemporary Art (San Diego); Maison Hermès Dosan Park (Seoul); and Hong Kong Museum of Art. He has also participated in the Venice Biennale.

His work is currently exhibited at the Fosun Foundation in Chengdu, China, in a solo exhibition.

Artwork will be on display at the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc until October 19 and will be available for delivery to the winning bidder after this time.
