Krim Fellowship Request for Proposals Announced

Dr. Mathilde Krim, amfAR’s founding chairman

amfAR is currently accepting proposals for its Mathilde Krim Fellowship in Biomedical Research.

Named in honor of the foundation’s late founding chairman, the fellowship is designed to help outstanding young scientists with innovative, daring ideas make the transition to an independent career in HIV/AIDS research. The grant amount of $180,000 over two years provides crucial funding in a landscape where financial support is scarce.

Since 2008, 62 fellowships have been awarded, totaling $9.7 million. This critical investment has produced remarkable dividends: every dollar spent on the program has generated on average $24 in subsequent funding from the National Institutes of Health.

One of the strengths of the Krim Fellowship program is that fellows work under the mentorship of seasoned HIV researchers. Applicants must hold a doctorate degree and must be affiliated with a nonprofit research institution anywhere in the world.
