“My focus is on conducting research and generating evidence to inform and empower communities, shedding light on the health disparities that heavily impact the most vulnerable populations. Navigating the scientific landscape as a woman in a region where machismo prevails has been a persistent challenge. Also, being a lesbian compounded the challenges associated with LGBTQIAPN+phobia in my professional environment. As a female scientist, beyond serving as an empowering example for future generations, I actively engage in mentoring young women investigators aiming at inspiring them to pursue careers in science.”
