Putting Your Heart into Your Work

Workplace giving is an easy way to support the causes you love

World AIDS Day, December 1, is approaching and it’s the perfect time to reflect on the people we have lost to AIDS and commit to making the future brighter for the 39 million people living with HIV. One way to help make a difference is to support amfAR’s innovative HIV cure research through workplace giving.

According to Charity Navigator, about $4.8 billion is donated to U.S.-based charities each year thanks to workplace giving programs. And according to America’s Charities Snapshot Employer Research, 65% of large companies and 28% of small to mid-size companies will even match your donation, doubling your gift.

There’s a reason why workplace giving is popular among employees—whether providing steady donations at their own pace with a percentage of their paychecks or a fixed dollar amount, they can do so with ease.

“amfAR works hard toward finding a cure for HIV, every minute of every day,” says Kyle Clifford, chief development officer at amfAR. “So we deeply appreciate donors who are similarly tenacious about ending AIDS and dedicate a portion of their hard-earned money week after week, month after month.”

Here are options to support amfAR via workplace giving:

  • Federal employees and members of the U.S. military can direct donations to amfAR through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), which amfAR participates in through a federation called CHC: Creating Healthier Communities.  Our CFC number is 11996.
  • In addition to representing amfAR in the Combined Federal Campaign, CHC also represents amfAR and its other member charities in state and municipal employee giving campaigns, as well as a growing number of corporate campaigns, working with companies and institutions such as Aetna, American Express, Anthem, Cartus, Chevron, Cleveland Cavaliers, Coca-Cola, Comcast/NBC Universal, Continental Resources, Fred Meyer, Liberty Diversified International, and United Health Group.
  • Employees at companies and other organizations that participate in United Way workplace campaigns can also support amfAR with a “write-in” designation. And many organizations also operate their own workplace giving programs, including the American Bar Association, IBM, and Novell.
