Robert Rauschenberg was one of the most important artists of the 20th century. To date, the sale of Robert Rauschenberg’s work has raised nearly $1.5 million in support of amfAR at fundraising events around the world.
Rauschenberg was a cherished friend and exceptionally generous supporter of amfAR. As a passionate advocate in the fight against AIDS, he helped galvanize the art community’s response to the epidemic and remained involved with the Foundation for 20 years as a champion and benefactor. In 2000, amfAR publicly acknowledged his leadership and generosity, presenting him with the Foundation’s first Award of Excellence for Artistic Contributions to the Fight Against AIDS
