He obtained his MS in epidemiology from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health in 2020 through the D43 program UCLA/Vietnam Training Program in Evaluation and Advanced Methodologies in HIV/AIDS Research (Li). He is currently a Research Manager and Data Management Head at the Center for Innovation in Mental Health at CUNY SPH. His research focus centers on implementing science methods to scale up the integrated care models for mental health within underserved communities. He will be examining temporal trends in the time from HIV diagnosis to ART initiation for his FIMP training project
How do you plan to help people living with or at risk for HIV through your research?
Motivated by a deep desire to improve lives, my research focuses on ensuring people living with HIV (PLWH) receive timely treatment. Analyzing trends in antiretroviral therapy (ART) initiation across diverse contexts, particularly during periods impacted by COVID-19, allows me to identify critical delays in ART initiation and explore the specific barriers PLWH face.
This information will inform development of targeted interventions that address these hurdles, ultimately optimizing the HIV care continuum. By facilitating faster access to life-saving treatment, my research will improve health outcomes and quality of life for PLWH. Furthermore, the findings will empower healthcare providers and policymakers to advance data-driven public health strategies and enhance the overall well-being of PLWH.
This is more than just research; it is a mission to empower individuals and contribute to a world free from HIV/AIDS.
